Don't Fret Your Frizz!

PeterMark Salon Don’t Fret

Your Frizz

2010 is already squeezing the days out of 2009, and if your social calendar is anything like ours, you’re sweating bullets trying to figure out where you’ll find the time to make the requisite appear- ances at all of your holiday events. Not to worry, PETERMARK’s got your back! While we haven’t figured out how to fit more hours into the day, we do have an idea that can save you some time – one which hap- pens to include you having gorgeous, immaculately styled hair!

That’s it for this month, but be sure to check us out on facebook – become a fan of PETERMARK Salon to stay up-to-date on the sensational happenings in the celebrated lives of the Delray Divos!

Mark Hasche and Peter DeRosa, stylists and owners of the new PeterMark Salon in Delray Beach, have a combined total of over twenty years of professional hairstyling experience, primarily in South Florida. They have served numerous celebrity clients, appeared on several TV shows, are both nationally and internation- ally trained, and travel the country intermittently throughout the year to teach a variety of classes to other professional stylists. Before coming to Delray Beach, they owned and operated a highly successful hair salon in the Pompano Beach area for over nine years. Petermark Salon is located at 12 N 4th Ave., Delray BEach, FL. 561-265-6763.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to The Blow- style! Yes, it’s that simple. The transformation of the hair as a result of a properly executed blow-dry can range from fabulous to outright astonishing. If you keep it from getting wet, a good blowstyle can leave your hair looking amazing for at least three days. Stop in the salon on Thursday afternoon for a thirty-minute blowout, and your hair’s good to go for all of your weekend parties, dinners, and photo op- portunities! What better way to free up some of your holiday time? Why be stuck in the family bathroom, fighting heat stroke from your blow dryer in a wind tunnel, when you could be relaxing stress-free getting your hair blown out at PETERMARK while chatting about the latest celebrity gossip?

Additionally, a blowstyle is a great way to interview a new salon, and it’s a noncommit- tal way to feel out a potential new stylist and what suggestions they might have for giving your hair the best look. Which brings me to the perfect holiday gift for a friend or loved one who you suspect could use a little style advice – the blowstyle gift card. Where a gift certificate for a haircut could easily be interpreted as “I hate your hair the way it is now,” the gift of a blowstyle simply says, “You deserve to be pam- pered.” And if you really want to score some

points, why not throw in a scalp conditioning treatment? It just so happens that PETERMARK has the latest in scalp-nourishing oil ceremonies from Shu Uemura – and of course, nobody else in Delray carries Shu’s elite line of hair care and styling products..76 | December 2009 | Atlantic Ave | www.AtlanticAveMagazine.com

Salon Savoir Faire

Salon Savoir Faire

PeterMark Salon Bippity, Boppity,

Boo!

OMG!! Your squinting down at that blinding rock on your finger, a tear rolls down your cheek and you say in a shaky voice “Yes I Will Marry You!”.

Ok, now that that’s over, on to more impor- tant things, one of which is the perfect wedding hair. Some of the factors

for choosing your hairstyle will be your dress, hair, personality and the weather of course!

We usually ask the following questions when honored with the

task of styling one of our brides:

1. The wedding dress style? 2. The venue (indoors or out-

doors)? 3. What time of year/season will the

event be held? 4. Your style preferences (as a

reference)?

Once we have established the look & style you want we can

schedule a trial run. (It’s a good idea to schedule your

make-up trial the same day so you can see the finished product.) Tri- als should be sched-

uled no less than 2-4 weeks prior to the wedding to leave time for changes

and to ensure your complete satisfac-

tion. (Not all stylists do weddings so be sure

to ask around or consult your stylist as soon as possible

to ensure availability.) Unfortunately sometimes this task

can be daunting because there are so

many different styles to choose from, but if you love and trust your stylist his/her opinion should be just what you need to WOW your guests as you take your last single walk down the aisle.

Here are a few ideas you can entertain with your stylist. I’d say the most popular is half up-half down or an updo. (Veil or no veil, strictly your call!). Then there’s the headband (crystal or not), flowers, chignon, tiara’s (diamond or pearls) or combs. Side parts and even a ponytail can complete your vision of perfection on your special day. Not all of these will work with all hair textures, types or styles and that is where we the “hair gurus” get to be creative with hair exten- sions for fullness and texture. In most cases ex- tensions hold a curl better than your natural hair. Time of year can also be a factor. If the wedding day falls in the humid days of summer you might want to opt for a more fixed look as to not sweat frizz all night. Doing a Brazilian Blowout (Keratin Replacement Treatment) a few weeks before the wedding day can insure your not channeling Phil Spector hair for your wedding and honeymoon.

My last bit of wedding advice would be, it’s your day and you’re the star of this show so have your bridesmaid’s hair opposite of yours. For example, if your hair is up try leaving their hair down or if your hair is all up maybe leave theirs down or half up. Now with a wave of our magic hair wand and a Bippity Boppity Boo, you are transformed into the bride you’ve dreamed your whole life of being!

Ok so here’s the #1 piece of advice: you want to still look like yourself, just a more polished ver- sion! Happy Valentines Day! Divos Out!
