Strike A Posen

Zac Posen Fashion Show

Hair

by Petermark Salon

Zac Posen’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection would not be complete without the perfect coif, and make-up. As you

can see... that’s exactly what we gave them. Just as we did for the Versace show a few

months ago, we’re going to give you detailed step by step insight into how we created the look.

Spring/Summer collections are showing a lot of color, so why not accessorize your hair to coordinate with your ensemble? For Zac

Posen’s show, the hair look

required that we use multi- colored clip-in extensions to really turn out an

avant-garde style. First, we start by lightly misting the hair, we

used Depsea Smoothing Foundation Spray by Shu Uemura. By misting the hair we eliminate any fly aways and smooth everything into place. Then we use a paddle brush and hair tie to pull the models hair back into a ponytail. Make sure this is nice and tight so it stays throughout the entire evening.

Once secured, separate the ponytail into two sections, and then use a styling cream such as Silk Mesh by Shu Uemura to smooth

each section. Next we take our desired shade of colored extensions and wrap it around two sections of natural hair by twisting it.

The two sections are now twisted together, pinned at the nape of the neck and back up around the ponytail, and then pinned making a haute chignon. (Chignon is fancy for a “bun” for those of you who aren’t fluent in hair lingo.)

We finished the style off with an all over spray of Sheer Lacquer to ensure that the look stays shiny and set in place all night.

And last but not least... remember a small bag of jelly beans will keep cranky models eat- ing out of your hand.

These Divos are out!!!!

MakeUP

by LadyLash Studios

Imean, who doesn’t dream of doing the makeup for a Zac Posen fashion show? When we were approached with the

opportunity, we immediately jumped at the chance. Zac Posen would be previewing his spring line at a private showing at Petra Levin’s house in Palm Beach to kick off the Caron Renaissance Gala. As if the glamour wasn’t enough to draw us in, it was also for a good cause which was just the icing on the cake.

When we received the looks from Mr. Pos- en’s creative team, we were instantly inspired to create something that was as equally glam

as his designs, without drawing too much at- tention away from them.

Here’s how we created the look.

Because the show was outdoors with heavy lighting, we decided to skip a foundation alto- gether. Instead, we used LadyLash Translucent Setting Powder to take away any shine and make the models face as matte as possible.

Next, we dusted on a rosy blush to accentu- ate the cheeks.

When it came to eyes, we swept on a light layer of MAC’s Blackberry Eyeshadow. Although this is a darker shade, it doesn’t appear too heavy on the model’s eyes, so you get a great smoky effect without being too dark. Glide Liner from Xtreme Lashes worked

perfectly to line the upper and lower eyelids, and we actually skipped the false lash strips (if you can believe it) for this look and just added a few coats of LadyLash Mascara instead. We did this because the lips were really the central focus of this particular design.

For the lips, we slicked on a quick layer MAC Morange Lipstick to complete the look.

Finally we set everything with a new favorite product of ours, Skindinavia Makeup Spray. This prevents creasing and keeps your makeup looking great for hours.

These models looked fresh-faced and the look can easily be replicated at home. You don’t have to be a runway model to look like one!

Salon Savoir Faire

MANdatory! attention required!

Now that I have your attention, 2010 is ending its first quarter and it’s Time to give all the men a round of applause. If for no other reason, at least for their hair.

Men have stepped up their game by rocking good hair.

From high end products to professional styl- ing, men have reached new levels in the fight against bad hair. It’s quite astonishing what a proper hairstyle can do for a guy. He can go from Steve, the guy with a desk next to the water cooler to who’s the new guy Steve, and is he single!

Through the years men have rocked a wide range of hairstyles... but not always good ones. We hear it all the time from women “I wish I could get my man to get a decent hair cut.” Men have been traditionally more about convenience than style. Hairstylists take face shape, color, tex- ture and your ability to style all into consideration when masterminding your optimum coif. And you ask what does this mean, in short while we are no magician (well not all of us) we can distract from parts of a face and in some cases body, that are less flattering. Secret is, there’s a formula for a great hairstyle. For example:

Wide Forehead= Bangs Lazy Eye= Side Bangs (Cover the Lazy Eye) Overly Long Neck= Long Hair with angles Full Face= Angles to Create Cheek Bones Premature Aging= Color/Extensions for fullness Short Stature= Shorter hair makes you look taller Overly Tall= Longer Hair

And that is why Sally from Accounting just went from Sally with the “five head” (longer version of a forehead) to Sally that smoking hot girl with bangs! Ok, so maybe we are magicians after all.

So my point to all of this is to give insight on how a trained stylist can take you from Zero to Hero with as little as one visit. With a proper cut, style, knowledge and direction of

what products to use, you could turn some new heads and deepen the dating pool! To the husbands, nothing will get your wives going more than a well-groomed stud (meaning you of course). So schedule your consultation with a reputable salon, and you’ll love this part, they are usually FREE!! But you owe it to yourself (and your other half). So give it a shot, really listen and learn. Oh and I almost forgot the most intriguing part that is sure to lure you in, a salon is usually full of beautiful women (just F.Y.I!) With that these Divos are out!

Spring trend: The side-swinging braid

Spring trend: The side-swinging braid

Fun, flirty, and fresh…no this is not an advertisement for a dating site, but the trendiest (and possibly quickest) way to style your hair for spring. That’s right a style that’s easy enough for you to do yourself! Whether you tease it, twist it, or leave those shorter pieces of hair in the front down, the style of braid you choose is all your own. Do it yourself we said? We did.

Some hairspray, a brush, bobby pins (for those pesky stray strands), and a hair tie is all you need. After you’ve mastered the look, spray on Shu Uemura’s Sheer Lacquer Micro Fine Finishing Spray to finish it off. For the extra daring, you can head on into PETERMARK Salon and get a braided extension. This tress trend is swinging into spring with simplicity and sophistication all at the same time. We love spring.
